Handmade for Cats

先日、現場監督をしてくれている建築士さんが、

現在の様子を写真で送ってくれました。

壁の中を見てみると、断熱材がほぼすべて充填され、

その上から防湿フィルムが貼られている状態とのこと。

白くふわっとした断熱材に包まれた様子は、

まるで家がダウンを着ているみたいで、

なんだか生き物のようにも見えます。

建築士さんも
「なんとなく、暖かく感じました」

と話していて、目に見えない部分ですが、

家の性能がしっかり形になってきているのを感じられる工程です。

このあと壁が貼られると、

一気に「部屋」らしくなっていくはず。

ただ、家の壁仕上げは漆喰塗装。

工程表を見ると漆喰の施工は来月中旬の予定なので、

まだまだ時間がかかりそうです。

そしてこちらは、外壁塗装の色見本。

設計図には「アクリル系弾性リシン吹き付け」と記載されています。

正直、専門用語はあまりよく分かりませんが、

調べてみると、
「ひび割れに強く、モルタル下地との相性が良く、落ち着いた意匠性がある」

といった理由で、現場で採用されることの多い仕上げなのだそうです。

建築士さんが現場監督として入ってくれていることもあり、

良いのか悪いのか、結構お任せ状態。

すべて設計図にはきちんと書いてあるのですが、

専門的なところは正直よく分かりません。

ただ「ちゃんと良いものを選んでくれている」

という安心感の方が勝っています。

それにしても、外壁の色は本当に迷います。

これだけ並ぶと、ますます決められません。

いっそ全部並べて、

猫が一番最初に乗った色にするとか。

うちの子が選んだなら、

あとから文句も言えませんしね。

When a House Starts to Feel Warm: Insulation, Trust, and Letting the Cat Decide

The architect who is overseeing the site recently sent us some photos showing the current state of the construction.

Most of the wall insulation has now been installed, and a vapor barrier film has been placed over it.
Wrapped in soft, white insulation, the house almost looks like it’s wearing a down jacket, and in a strange way, it feels a little bit alive.

The architect also mentioned that the space already felt slightly warmer.
Even though this part of the work isn’t very visible once the walls are finished, it’s reassuring to see the performance of the house taking shape.

Once the walls are closed up, the space should start to feel much more like real rooms.
However, since the interior walls will be finished with plaster, that stage isn’t scheduled until around the middle of next month, so there’s still some time to go.

We also received samples for the exterior wall finish.
According to the drawings, the exterior will be finished with an acrylic elastic spray texture.

After looking it up, I learned that this type of finish is often used because it is resistant to cracking, works well with mortar substrates, and has a calm, understated appearance.

Since our architect is also acting as the site supervisor, we’ve ended up leaving quite a lot in their hands — for better or worse.
Everything is clearly written in the drawings, but when it comes to technical details, I have to admit I don’t fully understand them.

Still, the feeling that good materials are being carefully chosen for us is stronger than any anxiety, and that gives me a lot of peace of mind.

That said, choosing the exterior wall color is really difficult.
Seeing all the samples lined up only makes the decision harder.

At this point, we’re half-joking about laying them all out and choosing the color that our cat steps on first.
If she picks it, we won’t have any complaints later.
