猫と暮らす工房付きの家づくり。

昨日書きましたが、

配線や水道管といった家の“中身”を整える大切な工程が進んでいました。

見た目としては大きな変化は少ないのですが、

壁の内側では確実に暮らしやすさを左右する作業が積み重ねられています。

そのひとつが、断熱材の施工です。

壁に収められる前の断熱材は、

空気を含んでふんわりと大きく膨らむそう。

今住んでいるのは昭和につくられた鉄筋コンクリートの家で、

断熱材が入っていないため、

冬はコンクリートの冷気がじわじわと体の芯まで伝わります。

だからこそ、

壁の中にきちんと断熱材が収まっていく様子を見るだけで、

思わず気持ちが緩み、幸せな気分になります。

職人さんは、断熱材専用のカッターを使って丁寧にカット。

ガラスファイバーが含まれているため、

専用の刃でないとすぐに切れなくなってしまうのだそうです。

家づくりには、やはり一つひとつに専門の道具と知識があります。

こちらは天井に埋め込まれた断熱材。

壁よりもさらに厚みがあり、まるで布団を敷き詰めたよう。

猫にとっても、人にとっても、

安心して過ごせるあたたかな家になりそうで、とても心強く感じました。

Comfort Hidden Inside the Walls: Insulation Progress in Our Cat-Friendly Home

This is our workshop-attached home designed for living with cats.
On this visit, important behind-the-scenes work was underway, including electrical wiring, plumbing, and insulation.

While the changes aren’t dramatic at first glance,
these hidden elements play a crucial role in comfort and livability.
One of the most reassuring steps was the installation of insulation.

Before being fitted into the walls, the insulation expands and becomes surprisingly fluffy as it fills with air.
Our current home is a reinforced concrete house built decades ago, with no insulation at all.
In winter, the cold from the concrete seeps in slowly, chilling us to the core.

That’s why seeing proper insulation neatly placed inside the walls brings a real sense of happiness and relief.

The craftsmen carefully cut the insulation using a special cutter designed for this material.
Because it contains fiberglass, ordinary blades quickly become dull—
another reminder that home building relies on specialized tools and skills.

This photo shows the insulation installed in the ceiling.
It’s even thicker than the wall insulation, almost like layers of futons spread above us.
It feels incredibly reassuring, promising a warm and comfortable space
for both cats and humans alike.
