青森ひばが厳しい環境でも

じっくり育つ生命力を持つ木という

ようなことを調べてご紹介しました。

ではどうしてこのような

風雪に耐えて育っていけるのか

調べてみました。

青森ひば材から抽出される「青森ひば油」には、

「ヒノキチオール」という強力な抗菌性を有する

成分が含まれていて、

他の樹木に比べて抜群の働きを見せます。

抗菌効果については、

青森ひば油はカビや腐敗菌に対して非常に強力な作用を持っていて、

耐性菌の発生を許さないそうです。

また歴史的建造物や神社仏閣などに使用されている青森ひばは、

シロアリなどの害虫を寄せ付けないとされています。

抗菌スペクトルが非常に広いこと、真菌や担子菌に特に活性が高いこと、耐性菌の出現をほとんど許さないなどの特徴があります。またシロアリ、ゴキブリに対する殺虫効果やダニに対する忌避作用、生活の中で発生する不快なにおい（アンモニア臭）に対する消臭作用などの効果があります。

私も青森ひばのゴミ箱を

生ごみいれとして使っていますが、

虫はほぼ発生しません。

また削った青森ひばの粉を

猫のトイレの砂に

消臭用としてふりかけて使っていますが、

本当にニオイが消えます。

In the previous Story 1, I researched and introduced how the Aomori Hiba tree is a type of wood that possesses the vitality to grow slowly even in harsh environments.

So, I looked into why it is able to withstand harsh wind and snow and continue to grow. The “Aomori Hiba oil” extracted from Aomori Hiba wood contains a powerful antibacterial compound called “Hinokitiol.”

The components in Aomori Hiba oil, such as Hinokitiol, exhibit exceptional properties compared to other types of wood.

Regarding its antibacterial effects, Aomori Hiba oil has a very strong action against mold and decay-causing bacteria, and it is said to prevent the development of resistant bacteria.

Furthermore, Aomori Hiba, which is used in historical buildings and shrines, is known to repel pests such as termites.

Aomori Hiba oil has a very broad antibacterial spectrum, with particularly high activity against fungi and basidiomycetes, and it almost completely prevents the emergence of resistant bacteria. It also has insecticidal effects against termites and cockroaches, repellent properties against mites, and deodorizing effects against unpleasant odors such as ammonia that can occur in daily life.

I personally use Aomori Hiba bins as trash cans for organic waste, and I rarely encounter any pests.

I also sprinkle shaved Aomori Hiba powder in my cat’s litter box as a deodorizer, and it truly eliminates odors.
